Comments:Having had two 17's over the last 14 years , ( and 14's for 28 yrs ) I know what the halyard hook can do to one's sanity !!! My release method is to pull the halyard right up from aft of the rear cross beam then go up to the mast base wilst keeping the halyard tight and with the mast spanner rotate the mast to starboard then pull down with the sail downhaull which pulls the ring past the hook .
